Solo Exhibition Celebrating Nature and the Fight to Save the Planet - 2017

As an acrylic painter, I blend my love of fantasy and animals through abstract expression, creating works that celebrate the delicate balance of nature, color, and chaos. My paintings fuse elements of fantasy, history, and environmentalism to create a vivid, immersive dialogue between the beauty of the natural world and the urgent need to protect it. By incorporating realism into my work, I aim to ground my fantastical visions in the harsh realities of our planet’s current state, urging the viewer to confront the truth of environmental destruction.

To me, the purest form of humanity can be found within animals, rather than in human society. Growing up in the rural landscape of Wyoming, I found more of a "home" in nature than in the structures of family or society. My sister and I, raised in an environment marked by abuse, discovered early on that art and education were vital escapes from the turmoil we faced. These outlets became our sanctuary, allowing us to envision a different world—one built on creativity and resilience.

This deep connection to both nature and knowledge led me to pursue a degree in health science, with a minor in biology, where I immersed myself in topics like global warming, ocean acidification, and pollution. Through this academic journey, I came to understand the devastating effects humanity’s disregard for the environment has had on our planet and the creatures that depend on it. This realization fueled my desire to use my art to raise awareness and inspire action, calling on others to join the fight to preserve the beauty of nature.

Through my work, I aim to turn the darkness of my past into a source of light, creating vibrant, colorful representations of animals and nature in imaginative forms. I depict apocalyptic elements woven into the animals themselves or surrounding them, symbolizing how the health of ecosystems and the creatures within them are inseparable. A stable environment requires the harmony of all life—every organism plays a role in maintaining the delicate equilibrium that sustains our world.

After years of hardship, I have found hope in the colors and forms of nature, and I am committed to using my art to foster a brighter future. I believe that art has the power to ignite change, to spark empathy, and to remind us all of the urgent need to protect our planet. We cannot afford to wait for more suffering to recognize the importance of the environment. My work is a call to action—a plea for humanity to stand together and preserve the world we have, for the sake of future generations.
